Do we think having lots of friends on Facebook would prove you are popular Year Six? Are online friends always real friends? Is it better to have 3 really close friends who you speak to in person every day, or to spend three hours a night 'chatting' to lots of 'friends' on Facebook or other social networking sites? Miss Mather
If a child spends three hours communicating with friends on Facebook, each night, the child would possibly be late for school and won't be able to focus on their work. HAMZAH YEAR SIX
Children with Facebook accounts could have a parental control on their computer which prevents them from using the computer at certain times. Abubakker y6
If your friend posts a picture of you on Facebook the whole world will be able to access it and everyone will know what you look like which may become a problem for you.
Children need to learn how to socialise with each other face to face. They need to be able to read body language and understand how to interact with one another in person.
The more time children spend on Facebook, the less time they spend with each other. Therefore I think Year Six children should not have Facebook accounts. Mrs Aziz
If year 6 was on Facebook they will be able to chat to friends and family in worldwide but clearly they should not be on it unless you are 13 or it is illegal and young students will get negative messages and will not know how to respond Hasan T
They they really should not be on Facebook you at least have to be 13 to go on Facebook and people can track kids down if you put many person things on your profile. Many people can be rude on facebook Mrs Malik

I don't think that pupils in year 6 should be allowed on Facebook because firstly it is ill legal to be on Facebook at the age of 10 or 11, you should be at least thirteen years old. My second disagreement to be allowed on Facebook in year 6 is that,Facebook can sometimes be a dangerous and nasty website to be on because of people sending rude messages that could hurt someone therefore ,not knowing how to answer back, a pupil could come under stress and it could affect their study. However Facebook can sometimes be a very fun and interesting website but pupils in year 6 i don't think should be on Facebook.AM
We don't support the idea of allowing children of key stage 2 to use Facebook. Everybody is aware of the fact that every day new and unexpected threats are on the internet. We believe young minds are not quite capable to face them. Facebook has proved to be addictive for adults and it will affect the pupils even more, they might end up wasting most of their time and lose interest in their studies. Mr. Qasim.
Thank you Mr Qasim! We will discuss your post in class. Facebook can be highly addictive and 'young minds' can be easily influenced can't they? Miss Mather
I think kids below the age limit should not be allowed to access Facebook because anyone can contact you and like 'Anonymous' said on the 5th of March if anyone were to post a picture of you or to 'share' your picture anyone, there ARE people with terrible thoughts and intentions in the world, they might use it to try to communicate you, because as Mr .Qasim said 'Young minds' can easily be influenced or persuaded if a stranger were to lie to them and make a fake ID on Facebook. Firstly I think children,in year six, are not allowed to create a Facebook account because it strictly ordered that nobody under the age of thirteen are allowed one. Also a child in year six would not be able to cope with the threats 'anonymous' people are using. Therefore I think children in year six should not be allowed to create an account on Facebook. Hamzah year six

No because Facebook only allow children over 13 to create accounts. They mustn't think it is appropriate for younger children and they're the experts!
ReplyDeleteAnd besides... Who wouldn't want an fb? FB is amazing especially if ur popular and everyone wants to stalk u so yeah....................

ReplyDeleteIf eleven year olds have Facebook accounts, they can communicate with relatives who live in different countries.

ReplyDeleteFacebook often encourages people to 'speak before they think', without any thought

It would be great if they had an account because it will probably make their confidence better and students like playing games on facebook
ReplyDeleteWhat games can you play on Facebook? Do you actually have to be on Facebook to play them? Miss Mather
DeleteActually Miss Mather there are some games like car town and many others.
DeleteSufiyan
Thanks sufiyan. Do you have to have a Facebook account to play Car Town?
DeleteNo because you have to be at least thirteen and children in year six are younger than thirteen
