Modelled writing

We were shown how to follow a recipe today to make sure our descriptive writing is fantastic! What would we tickle pink Year Six?

Personification

I can use personification to create atmosphere.

Personification is when you give non-living things life-like qualities.

2 A sentences

We've been writing descriptive sentences that we could use in a description of a horror/spooky setting this week. We had to:
choose two nouns
form a sentence
and modify each noun with two carefully chosen adjectives.

Here are some of our sentences so far...


The top floor of the anonymous, menacing mansion could be reached by a weak, rotten oak staircase.  Red group

There were thick, thunderous clouds in the silvery steel, deserted sky.  Maria

Walking into the secret, haunted ballroom we saw the heavily patterned curtains.   Mariyah

Inside the manor there was a lit, melting candle and a colossal, ancient chandelier.

The unusual, blinking clouds above the ancient, mysterious mansion were blinking at me.   Aribah

Below the menacing, unusual staircase, stood a lifeless anonymous table.  Saira

We know that living things produce offspring which are similar to them, but that their offspring vary. Did you know all dogs have the same common ancestor? What is it? We looked at different breeds of dogs and made sensible guesses about what their offspring would look like...
